Kazakhstan ratified the Convention

On 28 December 2011, Kazakhstan deposited with the Director-General of UNESCO its instrument of ratification of the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (adopted in Paris, 17 October 2003). Kazakhstan became the 142nd member Convention.

In accordance with the terms of its Article 34, the Convention will enter into force with respect to Kazakhstan three months after the date of deposit of the instrument, on 28 March 2012.

On November 9, 2011 the Kazakh parliament approved the draft Law "On Ratification of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage".

Then, on December 21, 2011 President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Ratification of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage".
