On 21 September 2018, in the center of Almaty, the long-awaited youth festival of creative spaces "Almaty - Youth Space" will take place within the framework of the national programme "Rukhani Zhangyru".

The festival is organized by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty in cooperation with the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs and support of the Akimat of Almaty City.

ALMATY - YOUTH SPACE is a unique event developed in cooperation with Almaty youth dedicated to the global theme of the International Youth Day 2018 - "Safe spaces for youth" and will be held as a part of the Almaty City celebrations. This topic once again emphasizes the need for safe spaces, where young people can develop themselves, participate in decision-making processes, expand their creativity, which will also contribute to their freedoms and sustainable development of society. Since 2017, Almaty is a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, a network of cities worldwide that have made a commitment to culture-based development. The main goal of ALMATY - YOUTH SPACE will be to promote accessible creative spaces for young people, of which they can become part of creating and promoting their creative and innovative skills.

Young people will be able to get all the necessary information about available youth programmes and organizations, as well as the city's volunteer initiatives. A pleasant addition to the event will be the free interactive master-classes from the city's most popular creative platforms, quizzes, art decorations, photo exhibition "Dialogue for Peace", as well as concert performances by talented Kazakhstani youth. The headliner of the concert programme will be a unique young artist Darrem.

In addition, within the organization of ALMATY YOUTH SPACE, from 17 August to 17 September 17, there was a competition for the best ideas about how music can make our life better, and the society more peaceful and tolerant. The winners of this competition are defined in three categories: Music for Peace, Music - Generation CONNECT and Music is Our Heritage and will be awarded at the end of the event by the Director of the UNESCO Almaty Office, Ms. Krista Pickat and Mayor of Almaty city, Bauyrzhan Baibek. The official partner of the contest is the educational company "EF Education First", which will award three winners of the contest with stylish tablets for learning and work.
