As part of its efforts to promote Global Citizenship Education, UNESCO supports Member States to foster citizenship and human rights education and improve access to quality education for all.A joint publication entitled Curriculum Development and Review for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education has been translated to Russian as part of the publication agreement between UNESCO and the Council of Europe, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, and the Organization of American States.
This practical tool provides valuable insights and inspiration to curriculum developers and other stakeholders in education. It gives guidance on how to embed Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education through a process of review, analysis, visioning and curriculum writing and planning. It describes current trends and presents four case studies providing detailed examples from different regions.
The publication was finalized with the support of the UNESCO Office in Almaty.
Curriculum Development and Review for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education is now available in English, French and Russian in UNESCO’s website.
