March 20 is the International Day of Happiness and this year's theme is Happier Together, focusing on what we have in common, rather than what divides us.
In June 2014, UNESCO Bangkok launched the Happy Schools Project in the aim of promoting learner well-being and holistic development in schools. In 2016, UNESCO Bangkok published Happy Schools! A Framework for Learner Well-being in the Asia-Pacific, which features 22 criteria for happy schools, focusing on People, Process and Place.This year, the Happy Schools Project at UNESCO Bangkok celebrated the International Day of Happiness 2019 with the “Share Happiness, Share your Happy School Activity!” campaign, which captured school activities that highlight the Happy Schools Framework and promote happiness and well-being.
The campaign began on 4 February 2019 with a submission deadline of 15 March 2019. UNESCO Bangkok has announced short-listed winners and shared their activities on UNESCO Bangkok’s website, social media accounts and other channels on the International Day of Happiness, 20 March 2019.
