Teacher’s Guide on the Prevention of Violent Extremism

6 March 2017

In response to the request of UNESCO member-states to provide support in countering extremism in the framework of teacher education, UNESCO has developed a guide for teachers on prevention of violent extremism (2016).

This tool aims to help educators address extremism in classrooms. Educators will learn how to teach students to think critically, develop skills and attitude giving them a role in civic life.

Material has been reviewed by international education experts and Associated Schools Project Network(ASPnet) schools and students of the Teachers College of Columbia University. This publication is one of the first contributions of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon's Plan to Prevent Violent Extremism.
